Charities and organisations join RBLI in showcasing volunteering programmes

Royal British Legion Industries’ Employment Solutions team today held an event alongside fellow charities and organisations in Margate to promote volunteering services to local people who are struggling to secure employment.

The event, where organisations such as Macmillan, Thanet Volunteer Bureau and Kent Police showcased their volunteering opportunities, also highlighted RBLI’s wide range of services tailored for unemployed people including Work Routes, Building Better Opportunities and Skills – a programme designed to provide functional qualification training for 16-24 year olds.

Speaking at the event, Michael Laidlow – Volunteer & Watch Liaison Officer from Kent Police said: “Events like these are crucial, not only for helping businesses, charities and local authorities to promote their volunteering programmes, but also for helping local people, who are eager to dedicate their time, to find out exactly what is available to them.

“We want to thank RBLI for inviting us to what proved to be a very successful event.”

RBLI has employment offices offering the a full range of employment services and support including one-to-one support, health and wellbeing advice and confidence building, spread across the south of England including Ashford, Bognor Regis, Chatham, Crawley, Dartford, Margate and Tonbridge.

The charity’s Community programme Manager Susan Graham, who helped to organise today’s event, said: “The volunteer Event was great opportunity to engage with various local voluntary organisations –promoting the benefits of voluntary work and the exciting portfolio of support RBLI can offer to the local community including employability, welfare, well-being and our accredited training.
