Business Manager (Finance)

The Job

We are currently recruiting for 2 Business Manager to support the Finance function. These positions are full time, permanent contracts and based in Aylesford, Kent working 37 hours per week.

 Salary: circa £40,000 per annum, dependent upon experience

Main Purpose of the Job:

To take responsibility for the financial management of a division of RBLI


Overview of the Role & Team:

The role provides management accounting and financial expertise and support to both the operational management of a Division of RBLI, and to the Head of Finance


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate, timely and meaningful MI and analysis, including full supporting management information on a monthly basis, within the agreed timetable for the division
  • Prepare regular monthly forecasts and liaise with relevant managers to agree the underlying assumptions to support the forecasts
  • Prepare the detailed divisional annual budget
  • Prepare financial appraisals to evaluate business opportunities and write the business case to support proposed investments or new business activities
  • Participate in the preparation of the year end accounts and audit
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Participate in the development of the business systems to improve the service provided by the finance department
  • Undertake any other ad hoc duties as requested by the Business Reporting Manager

Working Environment:

This role will be office based to start with followed by 2-3 days in the office.  It will require frequent meetings with managers in various locations around the Aylesford site


Skills & Experience Required:


  • Finalist/Part Qualified Accountant
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in a commercial or industrial environment
  • Understanding of stock systems, stock taking & stock valuation



  • Knowledge of accounting software, Access Dimensions, Focal Point
  • Understanding of accounting in the Charity sector
