This is a new role within RBLI for a full time, permanent position reporting to the Chief Executive. The role will be office based in Aylesford, with national travel.
This role is required to effectively build the people and culture capability of the organisation; lead and manage an effective human resources function to support the management of the employee lifecycle; and contribute to broader organisational and strategic management as part of the senior management team.

Strategy and Planning
Own the People Strategy and be responsible for its delivery
Develop the internal culture to ensure continued growth, retain key talent and attract new talent
Leadership on HR, people related issues and policies; and work strategically to embed great people practices that are aligned with, and enhance, our core values
Build on internal HR processes around onboarding, pay & benefits, performance and succession planning.
Manage and conduct offboarding of staff, including exit interviews; analyse data and make recommendations to the senior management team for corrective action and continuous improvement
Maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices in staff development and change management
Collaborate with senior management team to assess staffing requirements for grants and contracts
Contribute to the development of the 3 year business plan in line with RBLI strategy
As a member of the SMT, provide input to the further development, design, planning and implementation of RBLI’s Improving Lives Every Day Strategy
Professional Development/Performance Management
Assess organisational needs; identify and support opportunities for management and employee professional development and growth, work with senior management team to identify personnel challenges or talent gaps and collaborate to address solutions to resolve them
Oversee performance management activities, including ongoing feedback, documentation of performance issues, annual appraisals, and performance improvement plans
Provide performance management guidance to supervisors and support them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters (supervision/coaching, mentoring professional development, and disciplinary actions).
Identify and coordinate ongoing training for staff members, including annual training and identify any training needs and assist in finding appropriate training resources.
Diversity and Inclusion
Develop and implement the organisations diversity initiatives and strategy to attract, hire, and maintain a diverse workplace
Develope training programmes to enhance employee understanding on inclusions issues.
Ensuring the organisation follows appropriate legislation and employment law regulations around bias and inclusion
Maintain in-depth knowledge of changing employment regulations and implement policies and procedures to reflect changing regulations.
To be accountable in ensuring that all necessary systems and processes are in place that provide the appropriate level of compliance and governance to satisfy the CE, Board of Trustees
Support the overall strategic direction of data protection and information security in RBLI, by enabling the implementation of compliance and best practice.
To be responsible for the delivery of the annual HR cost centre budget
To seek input and approval for the annual budget and to ensure that it is sufficient to achieve the overall 3-year plan
To ensure that the CE receives timely monthly performance reports and KPI’s for areas of responsibility
To lead by example
To ensure that direct reports have clear and measurable objectives
To maintain the overall motivation of staff within your area by winning hearts and minds to ensure that the values of RBLI are lived

Great attention to detail and extremely organised
Degree or similar level professional qualification in a related profession
At least 2 years proven experience at Director level
Proven knowledge and experience of UK HR and employment legislation
Proven experiences at a senior level of leading and inspiring a successful HR team in a people and service focused organisation
Strategic understanding, and operational delivery, and best in class practices covering attraction, recruitment, performance management, employee engagement, talent management and organisational change and development including culture change and development
Experience of developing and embedding people‐focused strategies to deliver commercial and other business objectives
Significant experience of leading organisations, senior managers and teams through organisational change driving a performance culture and developing high performing leaders, employees and teams
