Going the distance for our TommIEs this VE Day
On Thursday 29th April Team Tommy, comprised of 8 dedicated individuals led by RBLI’s own Chief Executive, Brigadier Steve Sherry CMG OBE, took Tommy on an 800 mile journey across the length and breadth of the country. Starting at Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Co. in Erskine, the team cycled and ran their way through some of the UK’s most iconic WW2 sites and military bases before finally reaching Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Co. in Aylesford on Saturday 8th May – just in time for RBLI’s VE Day celebrations.

WHY Now?
Tommy is an iconic figure of dignity, sacrifice and service, and by supporting the national relay everyone can show their pride in the remarkable generation who won victory in WW2 as well as solidarity with veterans of more recent conflicts. By supporting Tommy, who is made exclusively for RBLI by veterans in our social enterprise, we can ensure that all veterans, no matter their age, have access to the life changing support they deserve.
We are conscious that the challenges faced over the past year have increased levels of isolation and loneliness, not only among the veteran community but for us all; this is why we are encouraging everyone to help mark VE Day by spreading the symbol of hope, strength and community that is Tommy across the nation. Tommy’s Race to Victory is a challenge unlike any other – our relay participants are challenging themselves physically and mentally, and we are challenging the nation to stand together, show their support and help Tommy as he journeys from Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Co. to Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Co.
