Some Of Our Past Riders

RBLI’s Tommy Ride is a very well organised and friendly event. It was lovely to meet the RBLI team and be so welcomed into the group. The ride leaders did a fantastic job and  kept everyone safe and in line. The hotels were lovely and crossings were very pleasant. It was fantastic to see everyone pull together as a group and cheer all the riders on.

I would just like to say how much I enjoyed the whole event, being my first ever charity ride, and how welcoming and joyful it was to be involved with the RBLI organisation and hearing about the wonderful things you do for our veterans, a great and worthy cause. I thought the whole event organisation and support we received, from RBLI,  the ride captains, support motorcyclists, medic and mechanic was exceptional and of course the whole team effort who kept us safe and fed along the way. The accommodation and forward planning around bike storage, baggage transfers and final dinner were all superb also.  All in all, a great experience and well done to everyone involved, definitely enrolling for next year.

WHO YOU’RE SUPPORTING

Tirtha is one of six former soldiers who served with the Brigade of Gurkhas who works in RBLI’s factory. Tirtha joined the British Army in 2005, and in his seven-year service undertook two tours of Afghanistan. On his second, in 2010, clearing improvised explosive devices from he was caught in the blast and severely injured, losing his left leg above the knee.

In 2012 RBLI gave him what he calls his second chance. He has since established himself as leader of the signage team in the factory and has been able to move with his wife and two children to a new home outside the village in nearby Maidstone. ‘Being here,’ he says, ‘is like a family.’
