Chairmans Tommy Sleep Out at Fort Amherst

As part of The Great Tommy Sleepout we invite a number of business leaders, friends and ambassadors of RBLI to take part in The Chairmans Sleep Out, the sleep out is a fundraising activity where we ask members of the public to raise vital funds for our work to support vulnerable veterans by sleeping out in the cold one night (or as many as possible!) in March, to understand the challenges sadly faced by veterans who often find themselves homeless.

Chairmans Sleep Out was held at Fort Amherst, Britain’s biggest Napoleonic Fortress in Chatham on the night of the 23rd March, despite the weather being against the volunteers, the experience left a lasting memory for those who took part and helped highlight the importance of supporting those in need. Thanks to each and every one of our brave participants who together braved the cold; raising money and awareness for the thousands of disadvantaged veterans still living on the street. Special thanks to Ghost Hunt Events and the entire team at Fort Amherst who made last night an experience we’ll never forget.

The sad truth is, many veterans have difficulties with their mental health when leaving the forces; often leading to homelessness and substance addiction. Without the support of our fantastic supporters, partners and fundraisers, we simply could not make the impact we do now for veterans who still desperately need our help.
